After 4 years, should a guidance counselor have a decent profile on?
Ideally? Heck yeah man. But realistically? No. It really depends on the roles that the guidance counselors play and how many students they serve. In my high school we had 3 counselors for the nearly 1,000 children. That's about 300 kids for each counselor. There is no possible way that a counselor can have a decent profile for each of their students. And tv often portrays guidance counselors as being the ones that know high schoolers, but they only know grades and what the student tells them. Of course, they do know a handful of students well. But not every student. That's just impossible. Most of the time, the guidance counselors at my school only got involved when there was an issue with a schedule or a concern for the student.
