If antidepressants dont work and you have tried a few whats?

It is hard for me to give an opinion. It depends on which four anti-depressants have you tried. And are all four pushed up to the max therapeutic doses and stay there for at least 68 weeks? In other word, has each of them involved a complete trial before it was switched out? Then the next set of questions involves which of the four did you respond at least some? And has your doctor tried augmentation strategies (i.e. augmenting the antidepressant with a mood stabilizer v.s. stimulant v.s. anti-psychotic)? Yes, there is reason to try more antidepressants. There is evidence that each antidepressant may be unique. Meaning if you try Prozac and Prozac does not work, then you should still try Zoloft even though Prozac and Zoloft are in the same class of medications called SSRIs. Finally, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) are good options as well. Please only follow your physicians advice as face-to-face evaluation is the key to diagnosis and treatment.
